What is somatic tracking and how can it help you with chronic pain? Read on to find out.
Somatic tracking is a technique used by practitioners with their chronic pain patients to help them overcome chronic pain. It is a technique I have used successfully in the past and still use if pain flares. It is also helpful for other symptoms you might experience.
It is a simple and effective technique. Essentially all you do is observe any symptoms in your body mindfully and without fear. In the podcast I link to below, Alan Gordon, LCSW, of the Pain Psychology Center in Los Angeles, explains in more detail what somatic tracking is and why and how it works. He also guides several patients through somatic tracking exercises during the podcast, so you will get a better understanding of how it's done, allowing you to then do the exercises on your own.
